In I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), four friendsโJulie, Ray, Helen, and Barryโaccidentally hit a man with their car on a dark road. Panicked, they decide to dump his body into the ocean and swear to keep it a secret. A year later, Julie receives a mysterious note saying, “I know what you did last summer.” She reunites with her friends, and they realize someone knows their dark secret.
Soon, a hook-wielding killer begins stalking them. Barry is attacked, Helen is haunted by eerie encounters, and Julie digs for the truth. As they try to uncover the identity of their stalker, the killer starts picking them off one by one. Fear and paranoia set in as they struggle to survive while the past comes back to haunt them.
In the final showdown, Julie and Ray discover that the man they hit had a vengeful connection to them. The killer is revealed, and a deadly chase ensues. Ray manages to fight back, seemingly killing the murderer. However, a year later, Julie receives another chilling message, proving that their nightmare is far from over.
