“The Woods” (2006) is a supernatural horror film set in 1965, focusing on rebellious teenager Heather Fasulo (Agnes Bruckner). After setting a fire at home, Heather is sent by her parents to Falburn Academy, an isolated all-girls boarding school nestled deep within a forest. The school is overseen by the enigmatic headmistress, Ms. Traverse (Patricia Clarkson).

At Falburn, Heather befriends fellow student Marcy Turner (Lauren Birkell) and becomes the target of bullying by Samantha Wise (Rachel Nichols). She experiences unsettling nightmares and hears mysterious voices emanating from the surrounding woods. The school’s dark history, involving three redheaded sisters who were rumored to be witches, begins to surface, intensifying the eerie atmosphere.

As students start disappearing under mysterious circumstances, Heather uncovers the sinister truth: the academy is run by a coven of witches, led by Ms. Traverse. These witches aim to transfer their spirits into the bodies of young girls to escape their confinement in the woods, with Heather being their primary target due to her latent supernatural abilities.

In a climactic confrontation, Heather taps into her own emerging powers to combat the witches, ultimately destroying them and liberating the remaining students. The film concludes with Heather’s father, Joe (Bruce Campbell), arriving to take her home, signaling the end of the harrowing ordeal at Falburn Academy.
