Stargate (1994) begins in 1928, when a mysterious circular device is discovered in Giza, Egypt. Decades later, Dr. Daniel Jackson, an expert in ancient languages, deciphers the device’s true purpose: it’s a portal that can transport people to distant planets. He joins Colonel Jack O’Neil and a military team to explore what lies beyond.

The team travels through the Stargate to a desert-like planet called Abydos, where they discover a civilization resembling ancient Egypt. The locals live under the rule of Ra, a powerful alien posing as a god. Ra uses advanced technology to enslave the population and maintain control.

As tensions rise, Jackson connects with the locals and learns their history, while O’Neil grapples with a secret mission to use a nuclear bomb if necessary. Together, they unite the oppressed people to rebel against Ra’s forces.

In the final battle, the team destroys Ra’s ship and liberates Abydos. Jackson chooses to stay with his newfound love, Sha’uri, while O’Neil and the others return to Earth. The Stargate remains, hinting at further adventures.
